  • indigenous says tatupu70 says OK--so how would you have responded to Hitler's aggressions and Pearl Harbor getting bombed? Regarding the prior, by muzzling Churchill so that he does not bomb Germany before Germany bombed England. Regarding the latter, by using diplomacy instead of the embargoes FDR put on Japan. Do you really think that Japan just bombed Pearl Harbor for no reason? I have heard that FDR wanted the US into a world war and that was the reason he ran for office, this from a book by Herbert Hoover....

  • P N Dr Lo R says Widespread servicing failures reported by student loan borrowers WASHINGTON, D.C. September 30, 2015 4:44am • Feds prioritizes stamping out illegal actions • “Cleaning up the servicing market is critical” A new report from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau shows widespread servicing failures reported by both federal and private student loan borrowers. Consumers describe companies using a wide range of sloppy, patchwork practices that can create obstacles to repayment, raise costs, cause distress, and contribute to driving struggling borrowers to default. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau says it’s making it a priority to take action against companies that are engaging in illegal servicing practices, and that ongoing work includes addressing many of the problems outlined in the report. The Bureau also intends to explore potential industry-wide rules to increase borrower protections. “With one out of four student loan borrowers struggling to repay their loans or already in default, cleaning up the servicing market is critical,” says CFPB Director Richard Cordray. “Today’s report underscores the need for market-wide student loan servicing reforms to halt harmful practices and boost assistance for distressed borrowers.” The report can be found at: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/f/201509_cfpb_student-loan-servicing-report.pdf According to the CFPB, student loans make up the nation’s second largest consumer debt market, which has grown rapidly in the last decade. The total volume of outstanding student loans has more than doubled, rising from less than $600 billion in 2006 to more than $1.2 trillion today. One in four student loan borrowers is currently in default or struggling to stay current on their loans, despite the availability of income-driven repayment options for the vast majority of borrowers....

With these observations he promoted the heliocentric theory of Nicolaus Copernicus (published in De revolutionibus orbium coelestium in 1543). Galileo's initial discoveries were met with opposition within the Catholic Church, and in 1616 the Inquisition declared heliocentrism to be formally heretical. Heliocentric books were banned and Galileo was ordered to refrain from holding, teaching or defending heliocentric ideas.[3]"...

There seems to be an inability to grasp that the fact that most Americans do not a single coherent electronic medical record is any sort of problem! It is obviously a huge and potentiaily life threatening problem for any individual seeking medical tx,, andseverely limits the enormous potential value of electronic medical records for research particularly in cancer research which is genomically based. Paper charts are medical records. It's not a huge and potentially life threatening situation for any individual seeking medical treatment. That's ridiculous. The vast majority of people seek medical attention for a specific clearly defined medical event that isn't dependant on a detailed history. Anyone with a long term chronic condition has plenty of history and records. As of 2013 78% of office based physicians use some type of EMR/EHR, so it's hard to believe that "most Americans do not have a single coherent EMR". http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/electronic-medical-records.htm http://www.modernhealthcare.com/article/20140120/NEWS/301209957 Note that they are talking about health records and specifically state NOT billing records. About 60% of hospitals have adopted "advanced" EMR systems, there is no reporting data on basic systems, but very few lack any type of EMR at all. http://www.hhs.gov/news/press/2014pres/08/20140807a.html Ok, SHE has no coherent explanation why SHE doesn't have HER records forwarded to HER current provider and have them all in one place. Detailed EMR records in a common format, as required going forward, would make SOME medical research easier, but with the exception of very rare medical conditions like multiple myeloma there are plenty of records in electronic form available for researchers. I agree more couldn't hurt, but it's certainly not SEVERELY limiting the enormous potential value of EMR for research. You do know that the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, which is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) details the requirements for implementing EMR under medicare and medicaid don't you? Since virtually everyone treats medicare/medicaid patients these are pretty much requirements for the entire health care system. It says As of January 1, 2014, all public and private healthcare providers and other eligible professionals (EP) must have adopted and demonstrated “meaningful use” of electronic medical records (EMR) in order to maintain their existing Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement levels.. http://www.usfhealthonline.com/news/healthcare/electronic-medical-records-mandate/#.VgyBl6e36DA Still want hang with the idea "most Americans do not a single coherent electronic medical record" as of late 2015?...
