ABTCO/ABITIBI Siding Markings
Identifying the type of siding you have is the
hardest part of the entire process. Besides finding the manufacturer's
markings on the back (see pictures below) or identifying the pattern, you
can also match the American Hardboard Association codes stamped on the
boards. Look for the AHA markings and use the following tables to help
you.
The ABTCO AHA markings are in bold.
See below for more pictures.

ABTCO
This is a sample of ABTO. Notice how similiar it is to Masonite Woodsman.
The only difference I found besides the markings is the sharp edge at the
drip line.

The back of the above board.

ABTCO Pattern
A close up of the back side above.

ABTCO-ABITIBI
The same sample above. Notice the smooth finish and the bead at the
bottom.
|
 |
ABTCO Triple Lap
Again very simliar to Masonite Countryside triple lap. Hard to notice
the difference.
|
 |
ABTCO Stamp.
This stamp read "ABITIBI-PRICE" Notice the American Hardboard standard
number 135.6 followed by the date it was produced 1984

 |
ABTCO Damage.
Notice the waving, uneven look on this house
built by Centex Homes.
